Christ's return - Armageddon

> Many feel overwhelmed by personal struggle and by the chaotic state of the world and its leaders. If you find yourself in despair, there is a voice in Scripture that speaks a steady, unwavering hope: a forecast of turmoil that ends in the decisive intervention of God, the restoration of all things, and the establishment of a righteous reign—the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

This blog invites you to see the arc of history through biblical eyes, to understand the path of hope, and to discover how the hard, narrowing choice of following God can bring life that lasts forever.

God’s Sovereignty is Supreme

Jesus’ teachings, as well as the broader biblical message, highlight the importance of respecting and submitting to civil authorities because they serve a purpose in maintaining order and justice in society. Passages like Romans 13:1-7 emphasize that governing authorities are established by God and should be obeyed, as long as they are operating within the bounds of His ultimate authority. However, believers are called to prioritize their allegiance to God above all else. In essence, God expects us to respect earthly authority while recognizing that His sovereignty is supreme.

The Coming Clash Between Man’s Rule and God

  1. The world’s condition as Jesus described it—and the hope beyond it
  • Jesus warned that the last days would be marked by conflict, deception, and natural disasters, but that such things would intensify as signals of a larger-saving purpose. He spoke of wars and rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes, and widespread trials—the “birth pains” of a new creation (Matthew 24:6-8). He added that the gospel would be proclaimed to the nations first, and only then would the end come (Matthew 24:14).
  • The same themes echo through the other gospel accounts: increases in distress, false teachers, and spiritual fatigue among many. Yet these signs also point to a climactic intervention by God—a divine restoration that will not be thwarted by human schemes (Mark 13:7-8; Luke 21:9-11).
  • The themes of distress and deception also align with the coming of the man of lawlessness, the Antichrist, who will rise in opposition to God, deceiving many and exalting himself, as foretold in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. This event points toward the ultimate triumph of divine intervention and restoration.

2. The danger of counterfeit peace: a temporary lull that shrouds deception

  • Scripture warns that there will be periods when peace appears to flourish—an easy path that tempts people to trust in human institutions rather than in God. Yet such peace is not the ultimate peace Scripture promises; it can be used to lull the world into a false sense of self-rule apart from God (1 Thessalonians 5:3; Matthew 24:14-22).
  • The overarching design is not to produce bondage to fear, but to reveal the sufficiency of God’s plan: that humanity would choose its allegiance—man’s rule or God’s righteousness—and that the end of human boasting apart from God would be exposed for the world to see.

3. A divine turning point: the Lion of the tribe of Judah takes the throne

  • In the divine drama, there is a prophesied moment when God breaks the impasse of human rule and inaugurates His righteous government. Revelation presents that turning point with clear, awe-filled images: one who is called the Lion of the tribe of Judah has triumphed, opening the scroll (Revelation 5:5). The faithful and true Judge rides forth, and on his robe and thigh is written the name: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (Revelation 19:11-16).
  • Isaiah’s ancient picture of a peaceful, renewed creation is fulfilled in the biblical expectation of a new covenant era: wolves dwelling with lambs, a child leading without fear, and a world made new in harmony and righteousness (Isaiah 11:6-9; cf. Revelation 21:1-4). This is not merely spiritual; it encompasses life, nature, and entire creation being renewed under God’s perfect governance (Romans 8:19-22; Revelation 21:1-5).
  1. The ultimate choice: follow God or follow man
  • The New Testament is clear: there is a decisive choice between the two kingdoms. The path of following God can be costly and counter-cultural, while the path of following human rule may seem easier for a season but leads to real destruction in eternity (Matthew 7:13-14; Matthew 16:25).
  • The time to make a decision is drawing near, as the day of the Lord’s appearing approaches. Prepare your heart and align your life with His will, for the opportunity to choose faith and salvation will not last forever. Now is the moment to turn to Him and be ready.
  • In the end, what we value most reveals our allegiance. Everyone must choose whom they will follow. If you value eternal life over temporary ease, you can take the narrow gate—the road that leads to forgiveness, new life, and life eternal with God (Matthew 7:13-14; John 14:6).
  1. How to humble yourself and enter the narrow gate
  • Humility is not a one-time act but a posture: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6-10). Humbling yourself before God means recognizing you cannot save yourself and turning to Him in repentance and faith (1 Peter 5:6).
  • The path of repentance and faith begins with acknowledging sin, turning away from it, and turning toward Christ. Jesus invites you to believe the gospel: the good news that God loves you, that sin separates, and that forgiveness is available through Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
  • The gateway to life is personal confession and trust: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9-10). Confession and forgiveness are rooted in God’s faithfulness (“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,” 1 John 1:9).
  1. The gate to life: forgiveness, new life, eternal life in God
  • The gospel centers on the Person and work of Jesus Christ: He is the way to the Father, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Through faith in Him, sins are forgiven, a new life begins, and eternal life is secured not by our merit but by God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  • Embrace the forgiveness available in Christ: if we confess our sins, He forgives us and invites us into a living relationship with Him (1 John 1:9). The life we gain is not a temporary fix but a restored humanity reconciled to God—now and for eternity.
  1. Notable Christian quotes to hold in hope
  • Augustine: “Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee.” This captured the deepest longing for communion with God, the true place of rest amid life’s restless chaos.
  • Jim Eliot: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” A reminder that the investiture of life in Christ yields an eternal return beyond anything the world can offer.
  • C.S. Lewis: “Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you will get neither.” A call to fix our gaze on the eternal and let earthly life be shaped by that priority.
  • Dietrich Bonhoeffer: “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.” A sober reminder that the path of discipleship may require surrender, but it leads to ultimate life in God (Philippians 1:21; Galatians 2:20).
  1. A hopeful path forward: how to walk in faith today
  • If you are overwhelmed by the world’s turmoil, anchor your hope in the return of Christ and the renewal He will bring. The current chaos is not the last chapter; God has a plan that will triumph over evil and establish a just reign.
  • Seek God in humility: repent of self-reliance, confess Jesus as Lord, and trust in Him for salvation (Romans 10:9-10; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
  • Live in the light of eternity: love mercy, do justice, and walk humbly with your God. Pray for spiritual discernment to recognize false peace and to live in the truth of the gospel (Micah 6:8; Matthew 6:33).

A final invitation

If you have felt the weight of despair and long for something that endures, turn to Jesus today. The Bible proclaims that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). You can begin a personal journey of forgiveness, new life, and lasting hope by turning away from sin and turning toward Christ in faith. Confess your need, believe in the resurrected Jesus, and receive the life He offers. “For God so loved the world…” and desires to redeem you right now (John 3:16). Today is the day of your salvation. If you want to begin this journey, sincerely pray to God, express your repentance, and invite Jesus to be your Lord and Savior.

You may wish to pray something like this, but remember its not the words that save you, it’s the sincerity of your heart:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You in my life. I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for me and rose again, offering me the gift of eternal life. I surrender my heart to You and invite You to be my Lord and Savior. Help me to follow You wholeheartedly and live according to Your will. Thank You for Your grace and love. Amen.

The hard but hopeful choice to repent and believe in Jesus Christ is the only doorway to life with God. No one can come to the Father but through Him (John 14:6). May you find peace beyond the storms, and may the reign of the Lion of Judah bring true and lasting renewal to your heart and to the world.
